Malezija, kjer prihaja do eksplozije okuzenih. Tako da…

Obstajajo razne hipoteze.

Prvo avtorica govori o Dalmaciji .

Lepo vas prosim balkanjerosi.

Poznajo tam Coronavirus.

Saj so zbolevali.

V Rusiji trenutno poteka kar intenziven izbruh. 114 okuženih, cca. 25 % dnevni prirast.

https://www.euronews.com/2020/03/16/coronavirus-those-infected-in-polluted-cities-more-likely-to-die-says-ngo

uhan, China. Qom, Iran. Lombardy, Italy. The three most hard-hit places in terms of Coronavirus cases and deaths. Common sense says there should be a factor they all share. Could it be air quality?
The Health Risks of Bad Air
According to the World Health Authority air pollution causes 4.2 million premature deaths worldwide every year.
Bad air quality is linked to deaths from chronic ischemic heart disease, stroke, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and acute lower respiratory infection.
In terms of chronic health conditions, air pollution is also linked to asthma and respiratory infections. There is also a causal link to diabetes.
The main culprits are ozone (O3), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), Sulphur dioxide (SO2) and particulate matter (PM). Many of these are a result of human activity putting pollutants into the atmosphere.
It is all too easy to cite a particular virus as a direct cause of death — it makes headlines. But if someone’s health is already compromised by chronic exposure to poor air, they are going to be much more affected by a virus than someone with healthy lungs, heart and immune system.
How does this relate to the current Coronavirus epidemic?
I live in Italy and have been baffled as to why the country is the European epicentre of the epidemic, especially considering the extremely high quality of health care.
But once I made the link to air quality, things started to make sense.

If a virus takes hold in an area where people’s health is already poor, the numbers will be high. I’m not saying that poor air causes the virus. But it magnifies the effect.
The three epicentres of the coronavirus epidemic, Wuhan, China; Qom, Iran and Lombardy, Italy do share something in common: extremely high levels of air pollution.
People with compromised health and already suffering from pneumonia or other respiratory issues because of long-term air pollution are going to be hit very hard by the virus, which causes breathing difficulties in a minority of cases. The resultant death rate will therefore be high, even though not directly caused by the coronavirus. The virus will exacerbate death.
WUHAN
The air in the Chinese city of Wuhan is classified by the World Health Organisation as “very polluted.” There are regular outbreaks of pneumonia. According to information from the Wuhan Bureau of Ecology and Environment, there were incidences in spring 2018 and spring 2019 and another in January 2020. That time frame coincides with the spread of the Covid 19 virus. Huunan Wholesale Seafood Market, thought to be the source of the epidemic, has the highest air pollution levels in the city and they were at critical levels at the time of the January pneumonia crisis. We know what happened next.

AIR QUALITY INDEX (AQI)
301–500 Hazardous
201–300 Very Unhealthy
151–200 Unhealthy
101–150 Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
51–100 Moderate
0–50 Good
QOM
On December 25, 2019, a few weeks before the Coronavirus outbreak the Tehran Times reported 14,000 people hospitalized “due to heart and respiratory problems” and that Tehran had hit a “pollution record high”.

The Tehran Air Quality Index (AQI) exceeded 210 (heavily polluted) for four days running. Schools and universities closed for five days because of the emergency. One of the ten most-affected cities was Qom, subsequently epicentre of the Iran Coronavirus outbreak, which has to date resulted in at least 107 deaths and 3513 cases.
The state of people’s health prior to the outbreak has got to play a key part in their susceptibility to the virus, which, as we know, can cause breathing difficulties.
CODOGNO, LOMBARDY
I was looking for a link, but couldn’t really believe that Italy would have the same kind of air problems as China and Iran.
I was shocked to discover that this beautiful country is the highest polluter in the EU. The Italian Legambiente in their MalAria (Bad Air) 2020 report says: “Ogni anno sono infatti oltre 60mila le morti premature in Italia dovute all’inquinamento atmosferico.”
Every year 60,000 people die prematurely in Italy because of air pollution.
At the start of 2020 the Po Valley is again the topic of discussion, as in previous winters, because of the smog emergency.
The Po Valley, in northern Italy, is very susceptible to smog because of its location and the high levels and density of traffic in this industrial part of the country. The air doesn’t move around a lot, so pollution tends to just hang there. It is the most polluted part of Europe and its pollution levels regularly exceed recommended levels. The most dangerous pollutants are PM10 and PM2.5.
It is regularly cited in the European Environment Agency reports. The most recent (2019) is typical:
… modelled scenarios suggest that the significant decreases in precursor emissions are expected to reduce PM2.5 concentrations in almost every country below the WHO guideline by 2030 (Amann et al., 2018b). The only exceptions are expected to be in northern Italy and southern Poland.
“In 2016, the highest exceedances occurred in the Po valley (Italy), on the Dutch-German-Danish border and in north-eastern Spain”

Left: UK Government map showing the Italian red zones for Coronavirus. Right: Map from World Health Authority showing pollution levels in Italy
The Po Valley is the location of the regions of Lombardy and Veneto which include the towns and cities that comprise the Coronavirus red zone: Milan, Lodi, Cremona, Padua, Bergamo and the village that is the epicentre: Codogno.
Cruise Ships
There have been a number of coronavirus cases on board cruise ships, including the Diamond Princess with 696 cases (410 asymptomatic) — the highest number of cases outside China, South Korea, Iran and Italy – and the Grand Princess with 21 cases so far.
The most obvious reason cited for this is that these are mini floating cities with everyone living in contained environment in relatively close proximity.
But what about air pollution? A 2019 report by Dr. Ryan David Kennedy of John Hopkins University, called An investigation of air pollution on the decks of 4 cruise ships measured the concentratons of PM (particulate matter) on various locations of cruise ships, including one from the Princess line: the Emerald Princess.
Its conclusion states : “Concentrations of PM on the decks of these ships are comparable to concentrations measured in polluted cities, including Beijing and Santiago. Despite being on the open water and in open air, vacationers and cruise ship staff may be exposed to elevated concentrations of PM.”
Interesting.
Cause of Death
The statistics in fast moving epidemics are inevitably partial. Only with the benefit of hindsight can you analyse calmly and fit the pieces together to make a complete picture.
Determining on a daily basis that the coronavirus is the cause of death is extremely difficult. The media is clamouring for figures for their daily updates.
The medical professionals are under pressure to deliver verdicts that really can’t be given so quickly. In Italy, the Department of Health have tried to underline the fact that while the Coronavirus is a contributing factor in many of the deaths, it can’t be said to be the direct cause.
The health of many of the victims has already been compromised. I am arguing that it has been compromised by poor air quality.
The high death rates, taken in the context of chronic conditions brought on by breathing poor quality air for long periods, often in an elderly or ageing population are thus explainable.
I’m not a scientist. I’ve done my best to research something that seems obvious to me. It’s up to the professionals to investigate further as we face more uncertainty in the days ahead.
But there is a vital and unequivocal message here for all of us.
We need to clear the air.
Update: Since writing this piece two interesting articles have come out which seem to add weight to this theory:

Saj so zbolevali.
Res nehaj govoriti neumnosti. Poglej si kakšen posnetek, kako izgledajo oboleli, sploh starejši.
