Če se prav spomnim imajo XP-ji že vgrajeno podporo za ta tip tiskala,sicer je pa tole njihov text kako se instalira.
Step one: Check to see if the printer driver is already installed
To find out if printer is already installed, do the following:
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers andFaxes.
Check to see if the name of your printer shows next to a printer icon.
If the printer is there, you are done. The best printer driver is already installed. Proceed to Step four: Set the HP Deskjet driver as the default driver.
If the printer is not there, proceed to Step two: Connect the cables.
Step two: Connect the cables
With the computer and printer on, connect the USB or parallel cable to the printer and the computer. One of two things could happen:
The driver automatically installs when the printer is connected to the computer. Several small dialogue boxes will appear showing the progress of the driver installation. When the installation is finished, a message displays stating that the printer is installed and ready to use. You are done. The best printer driver available for your printer is installed. Proceed to Step four: Set the HP Deskjet driver as the default driver.
If the Found New Hardware Wizard displays, click Cancel and proceed to Step three.
Step three: Manually install the printer driver
Click Start, then Control Panel.
Click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes.
In Printer Tasks, click Add a printer.
Click Next.
Select Local, then remove the check mark from Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer.
Click Next.
Select Port
Parallel connection is usually LPT1
USB connection is usually USB001
Click Next.
Select HP from the Manufacturer list.
Select the printer model from the printer list, and then click Next.
Select Yes if this printer is the default printer, or select No if it is not.
Click Next to continue.
Select No to skip the test page, and then click Next.
Click Finish to complete the installation.
NOTE: If prompted for a Windows disk in Step 12, do not use the disk that came with the printer, use the Windows XP disk or the recovery disk that came with the computer.
If prompted for a Windows disk, insert the appropriate Windows or PC Recovery disk (not the disk that came with the printer) and follow the instructions on the screen. Once the driver has been installed, it will be listed in the Printers window (Start, then Printers and Faxes).
Step four: Set the HP Deskjet driver as the default driver
Once you’ve installed the new HP driver, set it as the default printer.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes.
Right-click the HP Deskjet driver then select Set as Default Printer.

Uninstall and than reinstall the HP printing software that came with your printer.
Try printing again
pa sem že 2x ponovno inštalirala pa ne gre….sploh printer ne dela, lučka sicer gori to pa je tudi vse….niti mal se kartuše ne premaknejo…
Čudno… Jaz imam enak tiskalnik in mi od začetka s priloženimi gonilniki ni delal, po posvetu na parih forumih pa sem odpravil napako. Namreč…
Gonilnikov za ta tiskalnik pa NE SMEŠ inštalirati iz priloženega HP-jevega CD-ja, ampak pustiti prosto pot, da si tiskalnik izbere univerzalni gonilnik od Windowsov XP. Tako sem prebral na enem forumu, navedek:

its not the duty of XP, it shud be done by HP who are the Manufacturers !!!!!
they shud release Updated drivers and software which can work with XP also, as they work with other systems,,,,
but they just go with the built-in drivers of XP,,,, and dont waste their time to work on OLD products =\
I also use a HP printer, its Tookit worked great in Win98
then in XP it just refused to install the software
i went to HP support site, and they said there are no special softwares,,,, go with the XP drivers =|
can u expect this behaviour from a well-known company, i was disappointed 🙁

Question
We had to reinstall Windows 98 on our computer due to the inability to shut down the system. After we did this my printer had to be reinstalled and after I reinstalled the print driver and disks I keep getting the message “Printer driver files or data cannot be found or have been corrupted. Try reinstalling. Tried to do this four times and downloaded the drivers from the internet but no luck still get the same message Do you have any ideas

Hi Dona,
You must be 100% sure you deleted the printer,You must have the proper drivers also.
delete the old printer from the computer/turn off pc/unplug the power and the print cables from the wall the printer and the pc.look at the cable ,make sure its not damaged.plug the cables in.turn on the printer then turn on the pc,and reinstall the drivers.
dona,you have to keep trying ,its a pain in the neck sometimes.

Ko ta tiskalnik prvič priključiš na računalnik. ga win XP sami zaznajo in namestijo brez vsakega cd-ja ali dodatnega postopka.
Odstrani ga iz windowsov, odklopi kabel in ugasni računalnik. Nato ponovno vključi rač., priključi kabel in vključi tiskalnik, pa opazuj, kaj se bo zgodilo. Upam, da ti bo tako uspelo.
Kolega ima 710c in ni imel nobenih težav.
